I was part of a Tudor Living History Project with The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust. The team ran a Tudor farmhouse as it would have been in 1570.
We made and wore the correct hand stitched clothes, cooked over an open fire, baked bread, pies and biscuits in an authentic brick bread oven and made butter and cheese.
We planted the garden with period varieties and harvested the seasonal produce to use in the kitchen, with the livestock from the rare breeds organic farm.
In period clothes we sat down every day to a Tudor meal prepared that morning from start to finish with integrity, perhaps pottage, hare coffin pie and egg custard tarts.
A unique and fascinating experience of Tudor domestic life which I look forward to sharing with your group.
